Activities

Each day your child will enjoy outdoor and indoor recreation time, weather permitting. He or she will have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of centers. These centers include: Science, Art, Math, Blocks, Dramatic Play, Manipulatives, Listening, Music, Library, Computer, Language Arts and Reading.

Notes

Kindergarten and school-age children will be transported to and from Middletown Primary and Elementary Schools. This service will be provided by FCPS or a qualified CCCC staff person. A signed permission slip is required for your child to receive the Center van transportation.
Just as you would for school, please keep your child home when they exhibit symptoms of illness. If the symptoms develop while at the Center, a parent will be contacted and expected to pick up the child within a reasonable amount of time. Your child should be symptom free for at least 24 hours before returning to the Center.

CCCC Programs - Age 2 to Middle School

Our partnership with the home and community helps to develop the whole child to include personal and social development, language and literacy, mathematical and scientific thinking, social studies, the arts, and physical and spiritual growth. The Children's Centers' goal is to help children achieve school readiness in our church based environment. Our staff takes part in professional development opportunities to maintain MSDE accredited status and provide children with the best quality care. The center operates year round, Monday through Friday from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm. We offer the following programs for your child:

To further develop the whole child, the Children's Center also includes spiritual growth with lessons and singing with Pastor Mark Wakefield and Minister of Music Terry Sparks. In addition, there are monthly visits to Middletown Public Library, planned for each classroom, throughout the year. The Children's Center program is evaluated annually by parents, teachers and staff. Parents are encouraged to be involved in sharing with the Children's Center.

Classroom Rules

Although the rules in your child's classroom may differ slightly, there are some general rules that are enforced at Christ Church Children's Center. They are as follows:

1.) Show respect to others by being kind with your words and actions.
2.) Listen carefully and follow directions.
3.) Be responsible for yourself and your actions.
4.) Be honest.
5.) Walk and use quiet voices while inside.

All children are made aware of the classroom rules. If a child misbehaves, the consequences will be given in a positive and constructive manner.

Consequences Policy

At Christ Church Children's Center, discipline is not viewed as a punishment, but as a way of teaching appropriate behavior and ensuring the safety of all children. We observe the following discipline procedure:

First - Verbal warning with a discussion of what is acceptable behavior.

Second - Removal of the child from the activity.

Third - Separation of the child from the group for a short period of time.

Fourth - Parent will be contacted, either verbally or by note, and asked to assist the teacher in addressing the problem.

In extreme cases, continuous lack of cooperation could result in the suspension or dismissal of the child from the Center.
