Preschool/Early Learning Program

For children ages 3, 4 or 5, the Children's Center offers a fully accredited preschool curriculum, by the Maryland State Department of Education. The program used is the Houghton Mifflin Co., the same program used by our local elementary school. Our curriculum includes the seven domains of learning from the Maryland Model for School Readiness Guidelines. These domains include personal and social development, language and literacy, mathematical thinking, scientific thinking, social studies, the arts, physical development and health.

To further develop the whole child, the Children's Center also includes spiritual growth with lessons and singing with Pastor Mark Wakefield and Minister of Music Terry Sparks. In addition, field trips, special guest visits, and monthly visits to Middletown Public Library are planned with each classroom. The Children's Center Program is evaluated annually by parents, teachers, and staff. Parents are encouraged to be involved in sharing with the Children's Center. A homework composition book will be sent home occasionally with a short activity related to what you child is doing in his or her class. These activities are intended to be done by the child with assistance from a parent.
